Hey all, just looking for some input here.
I'm a certified teacher in Washington State (K-8). I know the laws state one of the ways to qualify as a homeschooling family is to have a certified teacher spend at least one hour a week over looking your homeschool student. I've always been a huge supporter of homeschooling (beginning as a homeschooling parent and now from the perspective of a teacher). It's looking like I may not find a full time job right away and I was thinking that working with homeschooling families might be a way to supplement any substituting I can do over the next school year. But I have no idea what would be a reasonable charge. I'm basically thinking I will be the supplemental teacher for whatever subjects the parents need extra support in, plus I can help to make sure the state standards are being met within their learning plans.
Honestly, this is why I went into the teaching profession. I want to work with homeschooling families. I'd really LOVE to be able to make this my full time job.
