Still managing two minutes a day - I can hold it for a minute now, it's still hard though.

You picked a good challenge KitKat :D

You're doing great to do a whole minute! I usually reach about 40 seconds, rest a bit, then 20 more. Haven't yet accomplished 2 minutes in one session. About to get that in tonight before I go to bed.

It is amazing how hard they are, and how they work your body. So simple, yet...

Gma ~ 15 seconds is better than 0. At least you did it! WTG!

2 planks @ 1 minute each.
Seems the stronger I get, the more muscles I use.
I'm amazed at how many back muscles this uses.

That's great Smile! I tried this for the first time yesterday and did 1 minute. With our full house, I got distracted and didn't come back for the 2nd. I'll try to go for 2 minutes total today.

Our yoga teacher would have us do this sometimes in her hot yoga class. It's not easy. And yes, it seems to use a lot of core muscles.

I did this again this morning. I think morning is a better time for me.

Plank 1: 1:30
Plank 2: :30 -- could have been longer but I'm just going to stick to 2:00 total.

SmileLee - 7 stars! WTG
helian - we all find the "right" time for us. I tend to do evenings but am always scared I'd forget:)

I did them both on Friday and Saturday.

Progress - not perfection, right, Doodle?
Did it tonight! I'm keeping them high. How about you, Ladies? Do you prefer the high ones or the ones on your forearms?

That's an interesting question, kitkat. I wasn't sure but thought a plank was on the forearms, but after a bit of poking around, it seems there are 2 types. I know from yoga that I find the higher plank easier. I think my shoulders and arms are stronger than my core. Although, I do have that shoulder injury, but high planks don't typically bother it.

I may have pulled a muscle planking on my forearms yesterday, so I'm going to try high planking today and see what I think.

wtg, ladies!
Lots of traveling and family visits yesterday, so planks got skipped.
That's okay, I was on the fence about taking Sunday off or not.

New week! Excited to continue with the plank challenge!
The "back muscles engaging" has me intrigued!
Decided I'm going to do 2 @ 1 minute for another week.

WTG Smile! What kind of plank are you doing?

Plank 1 - straight arm plank: 1:34.
Plank 2 - forearm plank: 0:26

I have to force myself to keep my butt tucked in. It's a lot easier if I stick my butt up! LOL! It's harder if it is held lower and I move a bit forward and keep my body flat, but I can feel my core engaging when I do it in the correct position -- for either plank.

The high plank felt easier at first, but in the proper position (butt not high), my sore shoulder was eventually aggravated, so I'm not sure about that sort of plank for me right now.

helian ~ The first 2 weeks, I did the forearm plank. Since it hurts my wrists to do push-ups, I decided to switch out one of the planks to a straight-arm plank, hoping it will strengthen my wrists.

I can finally say these are getting a little easier.

1 straight arm @ :60
1 forearm @ :60

For us with sensitive wrists:
it might help to hold onto a set of dumbbells while doing high plank. :D

I do that for push ups. The high plank doesn't seem as hard on my wrists, probably because it's stationary. Thought it might be a good way to build some strength. I've noticed that the bicep curls are also helping.

So... today, there was a marked difference in my posture and the way I carried myself.
My core felt a lot tighter - and "in control." Does that make sense?
