WEEKLY EXERCISE PLEDGES - April 9-15

Post by kitkat » Tue Apr 11, 2017 2:45 am

It's all about giving ourselves the opportunity to meet a challenge, and, whatever happens, doing more than we would have.
State your exercise plans for the week then post when you've done it. You can be as specific or as vague as you like in your plans. Be realistic in your goals - if you're not used to exercising or just getting back into it start off small - remember Baby Steps! At the end of the week add up your total and see how you did!

thanks for getting the week started, kitkat!
I got 10K steps done today, 12 flights of stairs, and part of that 10K was 2500 steps wearing 2.5# on each ankle.

Yi-yi-yi-yi, Gma! Now with weights on each ankle? You are a hard act to follow! How did that go? Sounds a bit painful.

Glad you are having better weather, Kitkat. It has been beautiful here lately. :)

Mon: mini T-tapp, 7000 steps
Tues: 7200 steps

Critter Tale: 'Tis the season for nesting... and the ducks are no exception. Except-- that we have gotten a dog to watch over the goats, and she is staying with them in the barn at night. She watches over them carefully-- won't allow anything else to intrude on their territory; not even the ducks. So they have to stay in the pond, most of the time. Well, apparently the daddy duck persuaded one of the mamas that the pond was not a safe place to nest; you never know when a predatory critter may come by. So he escorted her to the barn and went around with her as she scoped out the possible nesting spots. He spent the night with her in the barn, to keep her safe from the dog, it seems. Having determined that all is well, he has gone back to be with his other ladies at the pond, and she is settled alone in the barn, in the stall that is farthest from where the dog usually is. The dog doesn't try to bother her. I wonder if the drake had to do the knight in shining armor thing to beat back the dragon (dog).

I hope the ankle weights don't cause any problems, Gma. Once upon a time when dkids were in sports, that was a training method. There was a lot of controversy about it , whether they create overuse injuries. I'm sure you are careful and in tune with your body.

jehanne - I love ducks... You would not believe how many photos I've taken of them... Never get tired of watching them.
(Love the story - of course:) )
I can tell your weather is improving - look at the step count!

Today:
Pilates class plus outdoor walking: 11,000 steps.

probably not going to do the walking with weights again.
chiro said, either do weight exercise or aerobic exercise, not both at same time! These are not good multi-task events. Do them both, just at separate times. Even tho I tried to do it carefully, with proper warm up.

so today i just walked. Tomorrow I will do bone builders class that has warm up, 15 min aerobic, then weights, then cool down.
I hope to be at 10K by bedtime. I am over 9K atm, after a long walk at city track. Was nearly ready to quit, then a friend came, which kept me going! My walking partner is out of state for extended vacation.

kitkat, so sorry to hear that you are sick again! (I did the same thing, but this time it is not as bad as the first. ) I have 500 steps to go to make the 10,000 and I am tired. But I will try to make them before going to bed. Maybe my leslie Sansome dvd won't be too taxing. 15 minutes?

Big WTG, G'ma! I thought probably just 5 min. would do it. That is how I encourage myself to do a little more-- because I have found that I can generally walk about 100 steps a minute. :D Glad you got some good advice on the weight-walking. Thanks for sharing it!

So sorry to hear about your cold, Kitkat! ((hugs)) Maybe you can lie out in the sunshine awhile and kill all those little germies!! :D

I was busy with housework today, so mostly inside. But I did get about 7500 steps in. :)
