WEEKLY EXERCISE PLEDGE FEB. 5 - 11

Post by kitkat » Mon Feb 06, 2017 3:43 am

It's all about giving ourselves the opportunity to meet a challenge, and, whatever happens, doing more than we would have.
State your exercise plans for the week then post when you've done it. You can be as specific or as vague as you like in your plans. Be realistic in your goals - if you're not used to exercising or just getting back into it start off small - remember Baby Steps! At the end of the week add up your total and see how you did!

wtg kitkat. thanks for getting us started right this week.
today I baked 3 cardamon butter braids, made beef strogonoff for my mother for supper, also cooked parsnips and rainbow swiss chard, and made a lemon meringue pie. (yes, using lemons, not pudding mix) Also brought my mother breakfast bread and juice, then after church made a full breakfast for mother and myself, and went to a city chorale program.
And I took a sabbath from walking! EXcept for taking the dog out a few times. I didn't htink Ihad made 5000, but I just checked, I am over that mark. but under 6. and eager for bed. I have done dishes at my house and at mother's (we eat at her house, I bring all the food there so she doesn't have to go out.)
and although I made enough for another meal, she doesn't want to eat it tomorrow. She says she doesn't like leftovers. (but she doesn't like the mess of cleaning up after cooking a full meal either)

Elliptical, treadmill, bike. Total: about 1,5 hours. Step count: almost 10,000

I love elftovers, too. and I I had kept some out, I would have had supper tonight. As it is, I had a (big) slice of cardamon bread and rean errands for my mom who also didn't have any supper because she kept me too busy to cook anything. :( I wish I could get ahead fo her! she has a party at her house tomorrow - which means she has to clean and clean and clean and dust and redecorate and have me take last months decor to the basement and February stuff upstairs and get extra chairs from the basement and get special dishes also up from the basement
and get other things from the attic. And she ahs run out of gift wrap - its a birthday party - and the store is closed but I have some. My fitbit says I have only done 19 flights of stairs today. I better do one at my house just so I can make it 20 for a good round number! ! I have been too busy doing her stuff today to get enough steps in. I am only at 8000, I did take 20 min and walk the track quickly. We sat at dr's ofc for quite a while.

I note the typo at teh beginning - I think that is a cool way to describe them

That is a lot of doing, Gma! You might just need a 'sick day' now and then! :)

Housework is good work, Kitkat! Exercise and the reward of a house that smiles at you! :D

I've been fairly busy, too...

Mon: T-tapp, barn work, about 5000 steps
Tues: forgot to T-tapp (got up late), went shopping and walking for a bit at the ball park, barn work, about 7000 steps

Silly chicken story: DH discovered that the one silly hen who keeps camping out in the back of his truck has been laying eggs in it! Some hay had gotten left under the built-in toolbox, and so apparently she waits for him to arrive at the farm, then sneaks into the back of his truck and does her duty there. We found six of them in the nest she had made. One time he was already headed down the drive to leave when she flew squawking out of the back.

i love your farm and animal stories, jehanne!
how was your day today, kitkat?

I am trying to sort through my jewelry to neaten my bedroom. Didn't do many steps until I went to the walking track. Hooray for no time schedule. Anytime after 7am; they close at 10pm. Got 2 miles in at the track, and have made my 10,000 for the day - turned on a walking dvd and sure enough, the fitbit recognized those steps too - I put it in my pocket so it would sense my movement, not just be stationary on my shoulder strap.
Now back to sorting my earrings.

jehanne - never a boring moment with your creatures jehanne  Got to love a hen who delivers her eggs to you:)
steps are accumulating...

Gma - you are doing great!

Yesterday:
over 9,000 steps and Spin class (nice and sweaty:)

got to bone builders this morning, even tho the morning outside temp was 3 F. And I worked on balance as well as strength. I was able to do most of the exercises without holding on to the chair. People noticed (am I competitive and want acknowledgement or what!). I used 3# instead of 2# arm weights as well. These exercises are done slowly and for 12 reps, and some are more difficult than others. Many I would be able to do with 5#, but it's a volunteer thing with limited funds, so I can't hog more than one set of weights. OH, and that's 3# in each hand so it is 6# total, I just realized that, so I don't feel quite so much like a wimp.

I haven't gone through my jewelry in a llooooong time - so I am standing and sorting mostly, not many steps but also not just sitting around.

:D I made the 10k again today, by going to the city indoor walking track.
I found out where the cut off is for a green line instead of an orange line on my fitbit. 1725 steps in 15 min was orange (color for moderate), 1755 showed a green line (their visual for intense). tonight was my first green line. We must have been walking faster than usual.

Gma, perhaps that was a mile in 15 min? That was one of my son's goals when he was training. Good job!

Good for you, too, Kitkat!! I am also inspired by Gma's consistency to try to reach that 10K. But I still have a long way to go. :? It was so much easier last summer, when I was on vacation... why is it so hard now? (... I know-- partly the winter busy-ness and sluggishness that comes over me. But spring is coming! :D )

Wed: T-tapp (Day 4), barn work, 5000 steps
Thurs: T-tapp, barn work, 5500 steps

having a walking partner helps. and having a city indoor walking track that is open until 10pm also is an amazing help.
and I found out that putting my fitbit in my pocket instead of on my bra strap, I could also do the 3-mile walk exercise DVD that I have if I don't want to leave home.

kitkat, the nice thing about the track is it is climate controlled. It is not too cold in the winter (and not slippery either) and not too hot in the summer!
My mother wanted to use her Kohl's cash today. Her aide left at 2:30 so I expected to leave around 2:45 or 3. Mom called at 5:30 so say, When are we going?" I replied, I told you to call me when you were ready. Are you ready? response, No, not quite. So I picked her up at 6:15 and in the meantime tired to do a little at my house, but nothing that I couldn't stop as soon as she called, so I was a wee bit frustrated about what I could have done that required a large block of time.
I returned to my house <10 minutes before midnight. Yes indeed she is a night owl!
But I did at least get an errand done at local college, and walked from one end of campus to the other while I was there, so I did get some steps in.
the total for the day just made the 10K

and my jeans are so loose around the waist I either have to take them in with darts or sew some elastic in them.

Hi everyone,

Am now recovered from a week of feeling yucky!

Yesterday I swam, it was slow but I was moving!

Today - 4 mile run, it has been so cold but is gradually warming up so I am waiting to go out till later this afternoon.
I have walked the dog this morning for 30 minutes and now have to do some housework!

Hi, Doodle! Glad to see you back on board! :D

WTG, Gma!! So glad to see that all your hard work is paying off! I was looking at a clothing catalog that came in the mail today... and decided that there is no point in thinking about buying anything until the clothes I have now start falling off of me.

Kitkat, that cheatsheet is interesting. Made me want to get up and start cleaning. Not burning any calories just sitting here!

Fri: T-tapp, 6000 steps
Sat: T-tapp, 6000 steps

The extra steps are making my ankle swell up and ache, but still will try to burn a few more calories before going to bed!

glad you are feeling better, doodle
WTG! KITKAT!
I didn't make 10K today. Sat through and enjoyed 2 hr instrumental "wind orchestra" - mostly band but a few strings- INCREDIBLE, WONDERFUL.
Reception followed - and mother had a tooth break so we had to call the dentist for a Saturday afternoon emergency. No she wasn't eating nuts or anything. i think her tooth is just old! So I waited at teh dentist insteadof walking.
Then another concert this evening - college choir. another wonderful time of music!
Then help mother get her meds and ready for bed
I was fortunate enough to come home and turn on 3 mile power walk, but didn't have enough time befroe midnight to do the whole thing. I got almost to 7k. But it was high energy to say the least!
I think I am going to go try to take in my jeans before I go to bed; and I have to make it with clean sheets too.

jehanne, do you have a history of a broken, now healed, ankle? or a recent twist taht needs not to be overworked? Or at least supported with an elastic brace for a time?
