Valentines Day Meal?

Post by funmumlu » Sun Feb 13, 2011 10:42 pm

OK so what shall we have for supper tomorrow?
I'll ask DMil round, and it'll be me, DH and the 3 DKs - 6 in total.
All suggestions gratefully received!

Lol! I had forgotten about the lady/tramp moment! I do think the focus should be on as decadent a dessert as possible. No mention of diet/eating healthy allowed. :D

Steak followed by strawberries, dipped in chocolate of course, sounds good too!

Oysters are a very romantic meal for the person without a gag reflex.

In my house Valentine's Day is a bit of a non-issue. Today is DH's Bday so the special meal comes on the 13th instead. I am doing porkchops on tomato rice baked in the oven. Chocolate cake for dessert. I have been known to do a Christmas type dinner for DH on several occasions.

Pork Chops Ole
6 pork chops

0.75 cups rice
1.5 cups water
1 cup tomato sauce
.5 package taco seasoning mix (2 tablespoons)
1 green pepper chopped
.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese

In a large skillet brown pork chops and season with salt and pepper.

Combine rice, water, tomato sauce and seasoning mix. Mix well.
Arrange chops over rice, top with green pepper.
Bake 1.5 hours at 350*F covered.
Uncover and sprinkle with cheese and return to melt cheese.

edited to add that I used brown rice and it turned out just as well.
I don't use the taco seasoning to cut back on salt but I do add the cumin, chilli powder, garlic and onion powder, and some celery salt.

This recipe comes from Taste of Home Magazine.
